With England going to increase their maximum personal income taxes from 40% to 50% from next April onward, lots of players in EPL voiced their unhappiness, Arshavin from Arsenal is 1 of them. When Arshavin was still in Peterburg, he getting £50k weekly with just 13% income tax, which he still got £43,500 weekly, Although he get a pay-rise by joining Arsenal @ £80,000, the 40% income tax will make him left with £48,000. With the new 50% income tax law implementing next April, he will just left with £40,000 weekly which is even lesser than what he got in Peterburg. So can’t really blame him can demanding a pay-rise with his last season performance, an amazing 6 goal from 12 EPL start, scoring awesome spree of 4 goal against the like of Liverpool in Anfield.
With the Beckham Law being implement since June 2005 in Spain which give Foreign workers a choice of choosing to pay taxes as a Spanish resident(45%) or as a non-Spanish resident(24%). So i guess more and more star players choose Spanish La Liga as their performing stages is partly also because of the income tax in Spain. With this summer, C.Ronaldo switching from Man Utd to Real Madrid, Ibrahimovic switcing from Inter to Barcelona and both Kaka and Benzema choosing Real Madrid instead of Chelsea and Man Utd, all seem to proof that i am right for my previous statement.
Does this Beckham Law of Spain make an imbalance advantage for Spanish club easier to sign players compare to other major league like England, Italy, Germany and France which have roughly twice the income tax for their footballer to pay from their salary.
Wow, didn’t know that Spain got this kind of privilege for the soccer player
